The Business for Peace Foundation

The Business for Peace Foundation is an international non-profit organisation based in Oslo, Norway. Founded in 2007, it was established with the intention to drive a vision that all business leaders see improving society as their core purpose.

At the centre of the Foundation’s activities is the annual Oslo Business for Peace Award, conferred to exceptional individuals who exemplify the Foundation’s concept of being businessworthy: ethically and responsibly creating value for both business and society. An independent Award Committee, consisting of Nobel Laureates in peace and economics, selects the Award Honourees each year. The Award was first conferred in 2009.

The Foundation’s work has since expanded to include the Annual Summit, and Research and Advocacy Initiatives. These initiatives have been developed to fulfill the broader mandate of Business for Peace, that is to inspire and accelerate businessworthy leadership by engaging with multiple stakeholders to develop pathways for businesses to contribute meaningfully to sustainable development and peacebuilding. Together, these initiatives are designed to empower businesses to not only thrive economically but also to play a transformative role in advancing long-term peace across the globe.

Annual Summit

The Annual Summit takes place with the Award, convening an international multistakeholder group of business leaders, investors, leaders of NGO’s, politicians, academics, and civil society to discuss the practical actions needed to make substantial and sustainable business contributions to society.

Research Initiative

The Research Initiative supports cutting-edge research and development that explores the intersection of business, peace, and human rights, providing actionable insights to both businesses and policymakers for actionable outcomes.

Advocacy

Our Advocacy work aims to amplify the voices of those leading positive change, by fostering global dialogue, building partnerships, and advocating for policies that encourage ethical business practices.
